OASIS has a Library of its own!
Open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 5:00pm. Volunteer staffed from 9:00am to Noon and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
Books are loaned out for 2 week periods on the honor system and may be renewed. Maximum loan of 6 books.
All of our books are donated and include hard cover fiction and non-fiction, biographies, paperback, trade paperback (fiction and literature), and sailing. Because of our limited space only books dated 2011 or later are accepted with some exceptions for authors.
There is a selection of large-print books available. We also have jigsaw puzzles. The Library depends on donations to stay current, so please consider donating your new or used books. Books not used at OASIS are transported to Newport Beach Friends of the Library Bookstore.
Volunteers are happy to recommend books or “talk book talk”. Want to volunteer or make a request or suggestion? Please call the Library coordinator Virginia Hayter at 949.813.0377 or leave a message in the Friends office.
“Clean Meat”. “The next great scientific revolution is underway”.
Discovering new ways to create enough food for the world’s every-growing, ever-hungry population. Shapiro gives you a front row seat in the race to create and commercialize cleaner, safer, sustainable meat—real meat—without the animals. Enter clean meat–real, actual meat grown (or brewed) from animal cells–as well as other clean foods that ditch animal cells altogether, are built from the molecule up. From one single cell of a cow you could feed an entire village. The story of this coming “second domestication” is anything but tame.
